This time of year, I don't really have a "weekend" so to say besides it is Saturday and Sunday. I usually have games and practices. Saturday all day we traveled to Madison, SD and we played JV and varsity games, Varsity won big and JV lost BIG! While coaching you experience so many emotions happy, sad, mad, etc. etc. You try to get through to 18-22 year old heads different things to get them to play or to do this or that. I tell Jamie(the head coach) daily how we both needed out psychology degree more then anything else for coaching. We have really good girls and that helps a lot but man when (in JV) you can't get them to do anything you have worked on for the last three months and they act as if they would rather be anywhere else then in that gym at that time, it is tough. We have had some varsity games and practices the same way. I don't like to lose all of you that know me know that very well but I understand in JV it is a game and they are young players learning how to play but when they don't care or act as if they don't care that bothers me. I am spending my time and (entire day) away from my family for THIS? That is when I think is it worth it to spend so much time away from my family that means the world to me when the girls on the team could care less. I know they care but sometimes how they show it is incredible. I love my job I really do and love impacting(or attempting) young ladies to better their lives and help them learn many lessons along the way. But in the big picture basketball is just a game and as my job depends on us winning and losing in reality you have to look back enjoy the ride and play as it is really just a game and we all will wake up tomorrow.
Saturday I was really brought into reality when one of our good friends boy (Blake took a turn for the worse). He had a kidney transplant and bladder augmentation surgery three weeks ago. The surgeries went well and he was peeing(something we all take for granted) it was great. We were so thankful and happy for them as this family had been through so much. Blake is two years old twin that has been on dialysis all his life so having this surgery was a big deal for him to be able to live a "normal" life. We pray for Blake every night and if every there is a night I forget the boys will say Blake when we are praying at night. When he had his surgery the boys would say "Bake(Blake) sugery(surgery), it was so cute. Well, today when I woke up to check facebook and saw Jamie posted that Blake was back in the hospital due to high temp and blood pressure and they were going to be doing a very risky procedure to replace a tube of the source of his infection. With his high heart rate and blood pressure they were worried how he may react. Then about noon the message read this, "Never Needed prayers more than right now. Blake is not looking good and they don't know if he's going to make it. This can't be happening". I lost it I could not believe what I was reading this poor two year old has been through so much in his short life and his parents and siblings. I prayed so much and so hard on Saturday and could not even imagine what they were going through, the thoughts, the emotion, everything. I felt for them I wanted to take away their pain and help in some way but how... They is no way but to pray adn put it in God's hands. About 2:00 she texted me saying so far they have opened up Blakes abdomen to release the pressure, hoping this helps his blood flow, heart rate, et. His blood pressure has gone up! (which is something they needed to happen, not sure why) Not out of the woods by any means, but better than it was an hour ago. I prayed thanking God and praying for his improvement. I tried to just encourage her at this point because she is one of the strongest women I know to have to see your child go through all this and be so strong! Blake is stable and improving today but will be sedated until at least Friday, which makes me sad but is what needs to be done and he is still here which is above all the most important!
This is why in reality basketball is just a game and life is WAY to short to get to caught up in a "game" or in life of little things. You never know when it maybe your time or your child's time. I mean they thought all was good with Blake and they were on the uphill and then an infection, you just never know. That is why I challenge all of you who read my blog to look at life with a positive out look and don't get caught up in all the little things. I know even I get caught up in the why this oe that is happening to me and so on.
Please pray for little Blake as often as you can!

Thanksgiving..lots to be Thankful for
This Thanksgiving we went to Omaha and spent it with Jared's family as his aunt was in town that we haven't seen in 3-4 years. We got in on Wednesday early afternoon hung out for a bit, got the boys a nap and then had dinner. Thursday we got ready for Thanksgiving and such. As the boys had a cold when we left on Wednesday we didn't think much of it but that it was a cold with a bad cough...will talk more later about this. Thursday was nice to see all the "Bodammers" again, it has been awhile since we have seen them all. We all are so busy with our immediate family and such so usually only see them a couple times a year. This year there were two new babies and one on the way. The boys (especially Landon) love babies! I of course love babies too so I would say Landon (with mommy's help) help baby Oni for at least 30 min, then I held her longer. But yes can you believe a three year old sat still and held a baby for 30 min (it might have been longer, it was awhile). The food was good as always but I didn't stuff myself full full just good! I guess when you are chasing around two active three year olds, that happens huh. They had so much fun with cousins for the last couple of days, it is so fun. It is hard to live away form them but it is also that much more fun and excited for the times we do get to be together. We all wish we could see each other more and spend more time together but I like to be thankful for the times we do get to spend together. After putting the boys to bed and cleaning up from dinner and all, Jared and I went out to a few stores. Jared got a big screen tv and a tablet both for work but really good deals. We got a few other items for gifts and things we needed but nothing to exciting.
Friday we got up and just hung out as Jared went to the Nebraska Iowa game, he was not happy how it ended but was happy and thankful he got to go. The boys and I were going to go to a few stores but Tristan didn't get up until 11 and had a rash on his face, he was just not feeling well. He was up coughing a lot in the early morning and then fell asleep and slept good until 11. His rash was only on his face so I thought that was weird but went to the pharmacy and asked them and gave him Claritin and hoped it worked. Well, he laid down for nap rash looked a bit better but by the time we got home about 6:00 it was worse again. We were not sure what to think so I decided to text our doctor and see his thoughts. I sent him all the symptoms and a picture of his face and he said he thought it was Fifths disease which is viral nothing you can do but just wait it out. But if we had been around anyone pregnant in the last 2-3 weeks to let them know. So then panic set in and I was worried because Jared's cousin's wife was expecting and due any day. I responded to the doctor that I was freaking out becuase of that. He then called me and said it will be ok tell me about the pregnant lady and I did and he said she should be fine it is worrisome for the early pregnant ladies, but to let her know and her doctor. so all in all it was ok and her doctor said it was fine. Thank goodness! Then we had to let everyone know about it for the birthday party that was suppose to be Saturday afternoon and it is almost 9 on Friday night. So I sent a text letting everyone know that Tristan is no longer contagious but what it was and no telling if Jared, myself, or Landon had it but we were still having the party. The doctor said it was fine to have the party and that if we don't have a rash there is no telling if you have it or not to just live your life normal. He said you can't be a hermit and stay home for 2-3 weeks waiting for a rash when you may not get it. So the party went on and we go everything ready tonight for the party. As this sucked to do this again, not sure how many of you remember that last year at this same time they had the stomach flu and strep so we postponed their party a week. With after much consideration and talking to our doctor he assured me that it was fine to have. As some people that were coming decided not to come(and I fully understand that) we decided to have the party!

Big 3 Year Olds
Today the boys turned 3, maybe you are not thinking this but I sure am...where did those three years go and how are my "babies" not babies anymore they are growing up way to fast. As I am glad they are growing, learning and being big boys, things happen daily that make me realize they are only "little" for so long. As many people told me that they grow up so fast and I believed them I didn't think it was this fast. I seriously remember three years ago today they were born like it was YESTERDAY!! Looking back it was a scary time for Jared and I and now to look back and say I would go back a million times over and go through that pain and worrisome to know the boys would be "perfect" today in our eyes, even though it was a rough/scary start . They are having so much character come out these days which is so fun.
Some of the things they love:
Dump Trucks, Diggers (Construction)
Animals (they love Moo's and really any animals)
Tractors(anything farm)
Balls(loving football, they put their helmets and pads on daily)
Love to eat and are not picky
Tristan LOVES sweets of any kind and Landon likes them but will give them to brother. Both LOVE ice cream.
They are all boy and love everything that boys love. They love to be rough with each other to wrestle, play football(tackle), soccer, basketball. They love to push and pull anything they can. They are the best of friends and so lovable but can push each other and fight just like all siblings. But they get along so well. I wish I could bottle this age up. They are like sponges while learning things and want to learn everything, do things themselves(big boys), and help in all ways.
One thing I just absolutely love right now that I know in a year or two will not be there is the love they give me. They give me hugs and kisses galore and I eat it up! At night time and dropping them off at daycare is when I get the most "loves", I know it is a distraction so I don't leave and they stay up longer but because they are only little for such short time I let them do it. They will give me hugs and kiss (as Tristan says, big hugs, big kisses, little hugs, little kisses) It is so cute. I hope to get it on video so I have it to look at later in life.
I am not sure if any of you can imagine this as a mom or not but may days I can't imagine Landon being grown up and have his own kids and Tristan too or see them in high school or college. Maybe I can't imagine it because I don't want to yet. Or maybe I can't imagine it because they are still so little. I think more then likely it is I don't want to believe they "can" be that big at this point in our lives.
This morning we had some family time together as Jared and I both had games tonight. Jared at home and mine on the road. We got up made them muffins(that was by their request) open their gifts, then got ready and went to lunch at a "restaurant". When we asked where they wanted to eat lunch Tristan said a restaurant, and Landon agreed. So we went to Applebee's and they got some dessert too! They went to Nikki's for the afternoon and then at night the Craigheads watched them for us which was so nice since I was struggling with not being with them I didn't want them to be with someone they are not comfortable being with so this made it better. It is Jeremy's birthday today too so they got to share their birthday with their birthday buddy!
Tomorrow we will head to Omaha for Thanksgiving and then back Friday to celebrate their birthday by having their party on Saturday.

Halloween
I was gone for Halloween this year as I had a game in Clinton, IA on Friday and Saturday and we had to leave on Halloween day. The boys were Thing 1 and Thing 2, sorta a last minuete decision but had thought of doing this some year. It was easy and they looked pretty cute...don't you think. Jared said they got cold after while so they went out to Lisa Gunderson's and she spoiled them with more candy and junk food...as always. She is so good to them and they just love her, I am sure it has nothing to do with the cookies and grapes and food she always feeds them when we go visit. One thing is for sure our boys like to eat! Here are some pictures from Halloween.... Some may ask if they kept the wigs on Jared said for the most part they did but Landon was not a big fan of it.

Pumpkin Patch
This is well past due but finally...
This year we went to the Pumpkin Patch during the week, Oct. 17 a Thursday and I would say as a whole it was less crowded even though Omaha schools did not have school. We were unsure how the crowd would be and how the weather would be. The weather was ok until the sun went downthen it started to get pretty cold. The week before the boys were not feeling well but felt pretty good the day of. Ella on the other hand still wasn't feeling well, poor thing! Something new they did and surprised Jared and us is they road the ponies. When we go home the boys LOVE the animals but from a distance, they don't like to get up and pet them and be too close for the most part. At the farm Levi has a miniature horse and anytime we try and put the boys on it they want no party of it. But today at the patch they wanted to ride the horses so we did and they loved it until....Landon's horse sneezed and shook and scared him, he wanted off. The good news is he got back on it so that was good. We did the normal stuff jumpy pillows, play groud area, tractor rides, etc. Something new was we took a hayrack ride out to the field to the pumpkins, even though we knew we were not picking out pumpkins. The boys love tractors and such so we thought the ride out there would be fun and it was but it was really cold and windy. After that we went down the slides with the potatoe sacks under us and the LOVED it I mean LOVED it they wanted to do that all day and we could of but was getting dark and colder and we had more to do. All in all the trip was good, boys had a great time.

Color, Color and more Color
This past weekend Jared and I did a Color Run in Sioux City, it was a lot of fun. We ran it with Tara, Dave (Jared sister and husband), Brandon and Cassie(my nephew and his finance). It was a 5K (3.2 miles) and we tried to stay together for the most part. Tara and Dave got our outfits, tutu's, wigs, bracelets, and headbands. I included a link to the Sioux City Journal as we made the front page, sorta funny sorta embarrassing:). I will try and get more pictures up but most were taken on Tara's camera. Janet (Jared's mom) was kind enough to watch the kids for us, which was really nice. Jared had a very busy weekend at work so he had to hurry after the race but us others stuck around and enjoyed the after party. They had a stage with dancing and contest and threw out a lot of FREE stuff! We even got some color to take home for the kids to get colored if they wanted to. At first they were all unsure but after a little bit they decided it would be fun. We had a fun weekend with family in town but a busy one, the boys were exhausted last night asleep by 8:00.
