SICKNESS...Please leave our house

So I know we are not the only family out there dealing with sick kids but man has ours been a long run.  There are so many sickness out there!  So dating back to Jan. 8 when Landon went to the doctor we have been sick.  Lets go back a bit and I will fill you in.  They finally went back to daycare Jan. 2 after not being there since Dec. 14 with the holidays and our trip to Florida/Bahamas and all.  Jan. 4th Landon comes home with a runny nose and thought here we go he has a cold AGAIN!  Well, on Saturday he started to get fussy and on Sunday he got a fever and Monday was miserable and got him into the doctor Tuesday to find out he has strep and ear infections for the third time in six weeks.  (That was the process for the last three times he was sick, started with a runny nose, then fever, then not sleeping and fussy, he would get on medicine and then after medicine was done about week later would start all over again)  Poor boy I could not believe it when the doctor showed me his tonsils...it was awful!  I could not see any tonsils(or red that should be tonsils) only white and some bloody type stuff on the white stuff.  I could barely see the little thing that hangs down in your throat.  The doctor wanted me to see if because the Omaha doctor he saw while we were on our trip said you can't get strep this young.  So after talking to the doctor he wanted us to go to an ENT since he had had it three times in six weeks and Tristan twice in six weeks.  They did a mono test, strep test, blood work to check a bunch of other things.   Thankfully all things came back looking good however, the doctor said strep can come back negative and still be positive and he said what Landon had was STREP!  So because his throat was literally almost swollen shut he gave him an antibiotic shot and a steroid shot while in the doctor office.  He was also put on an oral antibiotic and oral steroid to help things clear up.   Our doctor told us that if you see any problems at all with him breathing take him straight to ER, because he was that worried about his throat.   He was miserable and would just cry if anyone looked at him wrong, that is not my boys usually pretty happy go lucky laid back for the most part kiddos.  The next few days were a nightmare, he would just scream 90% of the day if he wasn't sleeping.  He would not just whine or cry he would scream, how that didn't hurt his throat I have no idea.  He was just out of it he didn't even know what he wanted to do, we went up and down the stairs a dozen times.  Then he got so overtired that everything was the end of the world. On Thursday I called the doctor and asked if the Steroid can make him act so aggressive and unhappy, he confirmed but said he had to stay on it because he NEEDED it.  Finally by Saturday he seemed a little better.  Jared and I would split days so we both didn't have to totally miss work, we are so lucky to have the jobs we have that we can do that in times like this.  With no family in town it is hard when you have sick kids you don't really have a backup.

ROUND TWO...of course you guessed it what one gets the other one is bound to get eventually.  So Saturday, Jan. 12 when Landon started acting better Tristan started acting sick.  So Monday comes and I call the doctor and they call in a prescription for Tristan not quite as strong and no steroids.  He had strep and most likely ear infection too.  His throat had white spots all over it but not quite as bad as Landon's.  He had temps but not as high as Landon but starting Wednesday he was a fuss a mess too just like his brother didn't know what he wanted and would just cry and whine most of the day and occasionally scream.  Thank goodness Janet(Jared's Mom) came to the rescue for a little reinforcement on Monday afternoon and stayed until Friday afternoon.  Jared and I really couldn't afford to miss another week of work.  The hardest part was their nights were all messed up and Tristan really just wanted mommy so I still stayed home some of the day.

That Wednesday Jan. 16 we went to the ENT with Landon and she suggested to have tonsils and adenoids taken out and tubes put in.  With him having strep so many times so close together and ear infections, she said it is all related.  She said if we were a little uncertain that we could wait and see if this antibiotics worked this time or if it came back again then we would know to go through with it.  I asked her about Tristan and his history and she suggested that we do them both at the same time.  The problem being is when, I am in the heart of my busiest time of year, we just were off work on and off for two weeks.

Today I went to the doctor because since Jan. 9, the day after Landon went I have had a headache and just felt awful.  I was achy, headaches multiple fevers, chills, etc.  I found out on top of boys feeling like shit I had a sinus infection.  I figured I had something but didn't know if it was just stress and no sleep but nope a sinus infection on top of stress and no sleep.  I was put on two medications to help clear it up because it was so bad.

Now, Jared and I need to talk about do we have the boys have surgery or wait??  The problem with waiting is that this last strep was so bad I don't want them to have to go through that again and then they would have to wait until healthy again to have the surgery.  On the other end I am so worried about them having surgery and not being able to totally express to me what is that matter, or what they exactly need.  One of the risk at this age is they could get dehydrated because they don't understand the importance of drinking fluids and would have to go to hospital to get fluids.  My doctor suggested now is better than later as it will be a easier faster recovery when they are younger.  Decisions decisions.  We really trust our doctor so are leaning towards having surgery but I am worried as hell!!  I also know that many kids have done it so I don't need to freak myself out like I am the only one in the world to do go through this before.

Any suggestions to me would be great!
