Another new baby

Ella Loren Ackerson was born tonight, weighing in at 8 lbs. 3 oz and 20 1/2 inches long.  She has a ton of dark hair.  This is Tara's (Jared's sister) baby, guess I should have said who had a baby huh?  We will head to Omaha to meet our new niece this weekend and hopefully have some more pictures of her.  Landon and Tristan are excited for another cousin and we have another one on the Rosenmeyer side coming in July... yay!

A Belly Full of Goodness!

Today we had another well baby appointment with Dr. Amir.  It went well as he said they are both doing great and growing on schedule.  They each received shots, but they handled it about as well as mom would have.  Tristan topped the charts at 10-4, while Landon was 9-6.  They have been eating really well and Landon is slowly catching up to his brother.  The big news of the day was that the boys ate cereal for the first time.  We will see how they sleep tonight after filling up!

Dr. Amir we are so glad he is our doctor, he is wonderful with the boys!

A Tradition Like No Other

This past weekend was a fun one spent with good friends from Briar Cliff.  Since I am still nursing we took the boys with us for the weekend.  The tournament is called "Whoopers and Hoopers" and is a basketball tournament for players of all skill levels.  So on Friday, we ventured out to Hastings, Neb., which is about a four-hour drive from Sioux City.  We were unsure how the boys would do, but they did GREAT!  We left Sioux City Friday about 4 p.m. and stopped in Omaha to eat and feed the boys quick before we got back on the road.  We arrived in Hastings about 10 p.m. where we were welcomed by good friends.  The boys were hungry so I feed them and then we hung out.  Landon slept and Tristan just laid there chillin', he didn't want to miss out on anything::).  They slept until 6:30 a.m.!! Yep, I would consider that their first time sleeping through the night!  We played that morning at 8 a.m., so after the feeding we got up and ready for the day.  The boys, including dad, did so well getting in and out of the car, to and from the games!  On Saturday night, they always have a players' party with free pizza, subs and beer.  Chris Blevins wanted to watch Kansas State so he was planning to stay at hotel with his daughter Clara (only 13 days younger than the boys) so he also watched our boys.  That night we put them down at 7:30 p.m. and they slept until 4:30 and then back to bed until 8:00 and 8:30.  They are doing great sleeping! They usually go to bed between 7:30-8:30 and  get up at 4 or 4:30 and then again 8 or 8:30.  We feel we have a pretty good schedule going.  The weekend was a fun one, seeing friends, catching up and playing basketball.  Basketball is what brought us all together and even if we don't still have the game we once had, we still have fun giving it a go once a year!

Tourney time in Sioux City

So this past week has been a whirlwind with the National Tournament here in town and Jared working almost every game.  I have been down there as well, coaching and scouting.  So I had to go to and from the tournament and to and from practice and make sure in the middle I found time to feed the boys.  So yep you guessed it, I did some of the feedings at the games!  Some people think it is strange, but I look at it as it is good for my boys and I love doing it and no one can see anything so they need to just relax.  The boys did pretty good getting carted around to and from the games.  The first night Morningside played the boys were a little fussy.  They have those nights every so often, but they are getting fewer and fewer.  Anyways, Grandma Bodammer had her hands full but also had lots of helpers.  She was sitting right above many people from Morningside that were more than willing to help her out.  Thank you so much to Norma Weber and Wendy Wilde who helped feed and hold them.  The rest of the week, Kris helped her and they did great.  It was a long day for Grandma to be at home all day with the boys so she would come with the boys for a couple games a day.  Grandma left on Sunday and the Mustangs were still playing so Kris helped us out on Monday night.  Unfortunately, we lost on Monday in the Final Four against Northwestern...booo... not a fan of the Red Raiders.  The ladies played a great game just missed some breaks at the end of the game and the ball didn't bounce in our favor.  Now ,hopefully we get some nice weather so the boys and mom and dad can go for some walks.

They did it

So last night when boys slept in their big boy cribs they did soo well.  We feed them and put them down at 8:30 and 9:00 and they slept until 2 am yaya!!!   We are going to starting weaning them off night feedings when they are about 10 pounds.  They are already doing so well with going 4-5 hours in the night between feedings and usually when they wake up to eat Jared and I are back in our bed within 30 minutes.  Thanks to the NICU they had them on a schedule so we just had to follow it.

This week is the NAIA National Tournament so Jared and I are really busy with games all day Wednesday-Friday and most of day Saturday and next Monday and Tuesday night.  Jared is in charge of all the stats for all the games.  I will be watching all the games, scouting and getting ready for our games.  So with being so busy Jared's mom, Grandma Janet is coming in today to help us out all week, thank goodness.  It will be nice to have her here to help us so we don't have to run and pick them up or let our nanny go by a certain time.  Her and the boys will come down to the tournament at the night games and to watch the Mustang's play.  Briar Cliff plays in the afternoon so the which will be during the boys feeding or nap time.    Good luck to the Mustang's and Chargers this week!!

BIG BOYS!!

Our boys are getting sooo big not only in weight but also how they are acting and things they are doing.  Landon weighed in at 8 lbs. 7 oz and Tristan weighed in at 9 lbs. 4 oz.  Yes we have hit the 9 pound mark!! It was a very exciting today to hear that.  While we were at the weigh clinic some of the nurses that took care of the boys came in to see them.  We all love seeing them as they were such a huge part of our lives and will always be.  Christi one of our night nurses came in and we really enjoyed her while in the NICU and now that we are out.  Renee also stopped by sure was in the deliver room when they were born and took care of them in the NICU so she holds a special place in our hearts too!  We are so blessed to have all the nurses we had and so nice to stay in touch with them. They are all God's angels to us!

The boys also are going to do another big boy thing tonight...sleep in their big boy cribs, we will see how they do.  They are starting to smile and coo at us and occasional laughing.  I absolutely love it as every mother does.  Being a mother is such a blessing!

First official long day

Well, today will be our first official day of being away from the boys more then just a couple of hours:(.  Our nanny started today and as we are super excited to have her, today will be long for mom.  This week since both boys were sick we kept them home from babysitter Monday and Tuesday and had someone come in Wednesday and Thursday for a couple hours while Jared went to work for a bit.  We will let you know how mom does.  Zo (our nanny) was standing at our bay window as I was pulling out of drive waving with one of the boys...tooo cute love her already.

Tristan too :(

So yesterday we had a follow up appointment with Landon to see how he was doing with his RSV and things are much better than a week ago.  His cough is not as hard and not as often and the doctor said he sounded much better.  The doctor said also to keep an eye on them for pneumonia because they can get that from RSV.  Tristan had been having a little runny nose and a little stuffy and today he was coughing a bit.  So as I think Tristan has RSV too, we didn't have him tested because the doctor said if you see any of the same symptoms that Landon had treat him the same as we did Landon.  Jared and I don't think it is not as bad as Landon was and other cases or not yet, thanks to the Synagis shot.  I am also sick with just a cold I am hoping but just trying not to get the boys sicker or any more sick than they are.  Jared is trying to stay clear of all the sickness.  He told the boys and me yesterday that he was going to send us away and I said that is not nice, he followed it up with of course I would send you to Hawaii or Florida.  So, of course we were all ok with that.
