We are still alive…i am going to try and catchup on blogging swear

I don't even know if I have many followers out there any more but i am going to try and catch up and as you will see we (as I get caught up).  We have been on the road ALOT and gone ALOT!! So I will start with this past weekend.  Jared's team (Heelan High School) made it to state soccer so he left Wednesday (after getting home for Orlando Monday).  They won first round and played Friday so the boys and I decided to head to des Moines and Cheer them on.  They would face Davenport Assumption the same team that beat them the last two years in the championship game(they have won 5 out of 6 last state titles).  We all knew it would be a tough game with the Four Time Gateraid Player of the Year on Assumption but Heelan was up for the challenge.  Heelan had only had eight goals scored on them all year, their defense was really good.  They were hoping maybe facing them second round they would be a bit more fresh and could get by them.  unfortunately they fell short and lost 2-0 and were all very bummed as they thought this was "their year."  The boys and i decided to stay in Des Moines with Mike and Owen (my brother and nephew) for the night and go to the championship game on Saturday since Suzy (my cousin) was coming to it (her niece played for Nevada).  It was nice catching up with my brother and nephew, we don't see them much so it was nice.  It was a short stay but nonetheless refreshing.  We got back about 5:30ish on Saturday which was nice since we have not been home on a weekend since May 3. This upcoming weekend we will be home the whole weekend (which I am SOOOO looking forward to).
Today…Father's Day, we really didn't do much and that is what Jared wanted and it was nice to just do stuff around the house, lay around and no plans.  Boys woke up earlier then normal so we go up and let dad sleep a bit then made him breakfast in bed.  The boys that it was so funny but told him he should eat at the table.  So they ate a second breakfast with dad.  Then we went to church and out to lunch then a family date to Sam's club.  After that we just did things around the house clean out gutters, pulled weeds, and boys both learned to ride bike with training wheels…BIG day!

Eggs, hash browns and some OJ

Tristan took a break to help daddy pick weeds

He was so happy he got it!!

They got tricycles for a special surprise from the March for Babies and caught on right away then we had 16" bikes but they couldn't reach pedals at first and now they can.  Landon tried once Thursday for not long at all and then today got on it to "show daddy" and he took off…literally.  Tristan got on after and caught on pretty quick as well, Landon goes a little faster then mom likes but Boys will be Boys.
Well, Happy Father's day to my dad that has been there for me in so many ways and how we have grown even closer over the last few years.  He has always been there for me pushing me to be better, do better and to encourage me.  He is the rock of our family and so strong in so many ways, I love you dad.  My father-in-law, could not ask for a better 2nd dad, he would do anything for me.  He has always treated me as his own and made me feel so welcome in the family.  I am so blessed to have the best two dad's out there.  And to my husband Happy Father's Day he maybe one of the busiest men I know but he is always there for the boys to get down on the floor to play with them or kick a soccer ball with them, or whatever it is that they want daddy to do.  I could not have asked for a better guy to marry and have kids with.  Love you Jared

Proud wife…Much deserved!

I am so proud of Jared he earned the Sports information Director of the Year in all of NAIA, I was really proud!  This award is very hard to get only past recipients can vote and the nomination process is very long and intensive.  Thank you to his boss Steve Cast for nominating and going through all the work, thank you to all the voters for realizing how much my husband has done for not only Briar Cliff but for his career.  To receive his award we went to Orlando, FL which was a nice little get away.  His mom and I went from June 7-10 and Jared had to leave on the 9th to get back for Heelan Regional Championship.  Since he was the head coach this year he really could miss the game.  Like I said it was a quick trip but was a lot of fun.  We got in on Friday and went to the pool and hung out it was so nice, then we went off the resort to get some dinner.  Saturday and Sunday Jared had to work on his speech a lot so we didn't do a whole but stayed around the hotel we stayed at the Marriott World Center, VERY nice.  Every morning Jared and I got up to work out in their awesome facility.  Sunday night was the dinner and his award presentation so we went to that which was at a country club off resort.  After returning to the hotel we changed and went to Downtown Disney.  The SID Conference was going on at the same time so they had an event there at the bowling alley, it was a lot of fun!  Monday Jared had to leave and Janet and I hung by the pool most of day then went to the outlet mall that was only minutes from us.  They had a LULU LEMON outlet store…can you say trouble!!  It was fun but spent too much money.  Then we went to dinner and back to hotel to get packed up as we flew out the following morning.
The reason he got his award…always working even on vacation

Ou hôtel pool…so nice

at hotel in front of a fire, ya sorta silly in Florida but was nice

Jerry Hansen was who presented Jared with his award, he received this same award exactly 20 years prior when he was the SID at Briar Cliff, pretty neat!

Jared with his speech, he did GREAT!

Some of the previous recipients that was at the dinner

Jared's boss, Steve made the short trip too for a couple days, very nice of him

Two of the most important women in Jared's life there supporting him

Some may ask why we didn't take boys, We really wanted to however with the trip so quick made it tough to justify.  Thanks to Leslie (our roommate) watched them!

Circus

So the circus was this week and knowing we wanted to take the boys but just not knowing when was the questions.  I had the basketball banquet this year at our house so was busy finalizing all our projects and cleaning the house for that so trying to find a night to take the boys.  Well, Thrusday evening Meredith asked if the boys were going to the circus and I had said i hoped to take them but depended on what I all got done for banquet.  She then asked if she could take them.  After thinking about it for awhile and talking to Jared we decided to let her take them on Friday night and then we would finish what needed to be done for the banquet.  Well, with help of players I had everything done for the banquet so Jared and I joined some friends for dinner.
The boys had a blast and was all about the elephants pooping in the buckets.  As I was sad to not take them I am sure there will be plenty more "circus"to take them to but it was hard.  It was however, nice to get away and go out with friends too.

Saturday was the banquet and it went very well and everyone seemed to have fun and thankful we had it at our house.  As most of our house was done there was a few things not done yet (the floor and the caulking of the backsplash).  But the parents and girls had lots of fun with good food so all in all was a great day.  I was tired though after, Kris took the boys to Bacon Creek for a walk Jared took Austin to track meet so I finished cleaning up and then I took a little nap.  It was nice!

Weeks go by so fast

I feel days go by so fast and now weeks are going by so fast, this time of year is even crazier then ever.  With basketball and having 4 games a week recruiting a day or two a nigh tor two on the phone recruiting doesn't leave much time for anything else.  I really do Love my job but sometimes I think is it worth it...especially when you lose a game( I know it is just a game right) that you should win.  It stinks when you care and work harder at making the right decisions as a coach and some of the players you are coaching don't seem to care or put as much into it so doesn't mean as much.  With that all being said we lost to Hastings Saturday a team we beat by 26 earlier in the year.  Some things I have come to realize this day and age is how consumed people are with technology and such.  Now don't get me wrong most of the time it is nice and some of the things I am at fault for too.  But this team(the ladies) are so consumed with tweeter, facebook, candy crush, etc. that they forget to enjoy the moment.  I am trying to make more of an effort not to be so "connected."  I will even catch myself at night when Jared and I have an hour before bed we are both on phones or computers working, on social media or whatever.  Whatever is on that can and should wait, being in the moment and such is much more important.  I challenge you all to put down the phone, computer for more time and spend it with your family or spouse or have some you time... I don't think you will recruit it.  I am trying to do some research on how to help these girls and the upcoming as it will only get worse and help them realize this.  We have thought about taking away phones before games and making them do this or that but do they really learn that way or do they just resent you and want to go against you?  Who knows, trial and error I guess maybe a way to find out.  Just a little tid bit I have been thinking about a lot lately.  We had some drama with some girls and it was all over tweeter, text and such no actually talking and it was the biggest drama we have had in a very long time!  Drama is so not worth the effort put into it.  Doing things on social media and texting not facebook is cowardish.

Onto the boys, they went to the Monster Trucks with daddy on Saturday while mommy was at her game.  They loved it for the most part, Landon on the first truck was a bit scared and started to cry but then was fine just stayed close to dad.  They have not stopped playing with their Monster Trucks since.  Tristan even has a chant going, Go Big Foot and now at home it is Go Big Red Foot(the red is for Huskers I think because Jared said there was not a red truck).  They were so excited to tell me Sunday morning all about the Monster trucks and how they went over cars and crushed them.  I hated to miss it but was glad they had fun.  It was a good daddy son bonding!

The boys and Jared had pit passes so before the show started they got to get up close to all the trucks.

Tristan pointing at everything...he was so excited

They were so busy looking at everything, Jared was having a hard time getting a picture.
