Damn, Mom Was Right!

So I was right, Landon has RSV.  With that we realized what all parents do, that no matter how much we try to protect them, we can't shield them from everything.  The boys have been getting Synagis shots which are supposed to help them not get RSV or if they do get it, it is supposed to be milder.  So with that, we just hope that it is just a mild case.  If your kids have had it, you know it can be pretty scary.  The doctor mentioned hospitalizing him, but while in the clinic we tried a nebulizer and it seemed to help.  So, for now we will be at home with nebulizer treatments.  Doc says if it gets worse to call and we may have to take him in.  We pray that does not happen and the Synagis shots continue to kick in. 

So while at the doctor they also checked him for pneumonia which is a common teammate of RSV, especially in preemies.  So we pray that he doesn't get that down the road.  They did a chest x-ray on Landon and oh was that hard on mom.  They put them in this contraption, with only a diaper on, and dad had to hold his arms above his head.  Then they squeezed him in the tight plastic mold type machine and took some xrays.  He screamed the entire time.  I went in there thinking it was just a chest xray and that I could handle it with Jared staying in another room with Tristan.  After she explained what they would be doing, I said I need my husband.  She went and got him and Jared helped her while I stood by Tristan and cried.  My poor baby not only was sick but also in a lot of pain from this contraption. 

Now, our fear is Tristan getting it.  They had been close by each other, hanging out and sharing burp cloths and such until now.  Everything is being washed as we try to keep them apart (which they don't like).  The hardest time is when I nurse because I nurse them at the same time.  When Landon coughs the most, is during burps and he tends to throw up a lot.  We try to cover up the coughs, but it is hard.  So that's about all on our end, pray things get better!  

Also, if you read the earlier post, Landon's head ultrasound came back and the cyst was the exact same no bigger, no smaller.  While we hoped it was gone, at least it did not get bigger.  The doctors assure us that it will not effect him in any way and that they are just something they are finding more and more in all babies.  It may disappear or he may live with it, either way no one will know.  If it would get bigger, we would be concerned, but usually at this point in their lives it will either stay the same or disappear.  So we pray for that too:).  As you can tell our little peanut, Landon, has been through a lot, but we just pray and thank God every day for our two miracles!
